WELL BEING
We all want our kids to be safe, well and happy…then we think about Readin’ Ritin’ and Arithmatic…

At our recent development Day our discussions confirmed some wellbeing proposals. These included confirming Ms Reid’s role as Mental Health Support Person, the re-introduction of ‘Aussie of the Month’, the ‘You Can Sit with Me’ project and dance, as a means of lifting spirits and social confidence.

The ‘You Can Sit with Me’ project involves nominated students to wear a bright yellow wrist band to indicate in the playground that if you have not got someone to play with or sit with, that person will assist. Wrist Band students will receive some training and will only be involved if comfortable in the role.

Dance…over recent years we see Year Five and Six students gain self-confidence and enjoyment through their social dance program in Term Four. Shari our dance teacher can develop a six lesson program for children in Years One to Four that could be held in Term Two. We can subsidise the cost from our Wellness Budget to help make that happen.

The program is one lesson time per week for six weeks with the final session an opportunity for parents to watch and possibly join in the final session. With subsidy the cost would be $10 per child. For six sessions by a dance professional. Shari the dance teacher is the third generation of the famous Gilkinson dance family.

Feedback on these proposals is encouraged and welcomed by our general
email, before final decisions are made and put in place.

DEVELOPMENT DAY
We gained much from attending the State Museum, State Library and Art Gallery. Potential learning resources for children on site and off site were an eye opener. Our discussions also assisted with revising our School Communications, Well Being and planning for this Term into Term Two.
